This 10-day itinerary is the ultimate Sri Lankan “Surf & Safari” adventure, combined with the classic Hill Country route. It’s perfectly designed for the traveler who wants to see it all, from misty mountains to the legendary surf breaks of both the East and South coasts.
Your journey begins in the cultural heart of Kandy, moving through the tea fields of Nuwara Eliya and the highlands of Ella. Then, you’ll cross the island to the world-famous Arugam Bay for two days of sun, surf, and relaxation.
The adventure continues as you head south for a thrilling leopard safari in Yala National Park. From there, you’ll beach-hop along the stunning south coast, visiting Weligama and Bentota, before a final stop in the capital, Colombo.

Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Airport → Kandy

Welcome at CMB. Drive to Kandy (approx. 3-4 hours).

Evening: Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic & watch a Cultural Dance Show. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 2 - Kandy → Nuwara Eliya

Drive to Nuwara Eliya (approx. 2.5 hours).

Visit a Tea Plantation & Factory and Ramboda Falls.

Explore "Little England." Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 3 - Nuwara Eliya → Ella

Morning: Enjoy the scenic train journey from Nanu Oya to Ella.

Afternoon: Hike to Little Adam's Peak or visit Nine Arch Bridge. Overnight in Ella.
Day 4 - Ella → Arugam Bay

Day 5 - Arugam Bay

(Optional) Early morning safari to Kumana National Park. Overnight in Arugam Bay.
Day 6 - Arugam Bay → Yala

Morning: Enjoy a final surf or relaxing breakfast.

Drive south to Yala/Tissamaharama (approx. 4-5 hours).

Check into your hotel. In the late afternoon, enjoy a jeep safari at Yala National Park. Overnight in Yala.
Day 7 - Yala → Weligama

Day 8 - Weligama → Bentota

Day 9 - Bentota → Colombo
