Dive deep into the legendary past of Sri Lanka with this 6-day journey through its ancient kingdoms, culminating in a relaxing escape to the pristine eastern coast. This tour is perfect for history buffs and beach lovers alike.

Your adventure begins in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital, where you’ll explore vast ancient stupas and sacred sites. The journey continues to Polonnaruwa, the magnificent medieval capital, to marvel at its grand stone temples and statues.

After immersing yourself in history, you’ll travel to the stunning, untouched beaches of Nilaveli (near Trincomalee) for pure relaxation. Your tour then heads back inland to conquer the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Finally, you’ll travel to the capital, Colombo, for a city tour before your departure.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1 - Airport → Anuradhapura

Welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) by your driver.
Transfer directly to Anuradhapura (approx. 4 hours).
Check into your hotel. In the afternoon, begin exploring the Anuradhapura Sacred City (UNESCO site).
Overnight in Anuradhapura.

Day 2 - Anuradhapura → Polonnaruwa

Morning: (Optional) Visit Mihintale, the cradle of Sri Lankan Buddhism.
Drive to Polonnaruwa (approx. 2 hours).
In the afternoon, explore the Polonnaruwa Ancient City (UNESCO site), including the Gal Viharaya and Royal Palace.
Overnight in Polonnaruwa.

Day 3 - Polonnaruwa → Nilaveli (Trincomalee)

After breakfast, drive to the East Coast (approx. 2 hours) to Nilaveli.
Check into your beach hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing on the white sand beach or swimming in the calm ocean.
Overnight in Nilaveli.

Day 4 - Nilaveli → Sigiriya

- Morning: (Optional) Take a boat trip to Pigeon Island National Park for snorkeling (Best between May-Sep).
- Drive back inland to Sigiriya (approx. 2 hours).
- Check into your hotel. (Optional) In the evening, go for an elephant jeep safari in Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park.
- Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 5 - Sigiriya → Colombo

- Early morning: Climb the magnificent Sigiriya Rock Fortress to see the sunrise.
- (Optional) Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple on the way.
- Drive to Colombo (approx. 4 hours).
- Check into your Colombo hotel and enjoy an evening city tour.
- Overnight in Colombo.

Day 6 - Colombo → Airport

Enjoy a final Sri Lankan breakfast.
Depending on your flight time, enjoy some last-minute shopping.
Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) for your departure.
